Shrina, Virginia

Driving pods at full throttle was exhilarating, especially when you knew they could self-drive. For one, it was like refusing to let some machine dictate how fast she could go. Shrina was overthrowing her oppressive pod wanna-be master, going all out to find the local vampire recruitment station.

While not exactly a ‘station,’ it was exactly as she had expected. Another spot, kind of underground and in the form of an old half-buried military bunker. She left the pod and others behind, not bothering to see if they were keeping pace as she charged in. It was a simple matter of catching this group of vampires off guard, and then pulling at their wills just as she had with the others.

The first batch were instantly changed, red in their eyes fading out as they turned to her in confusion and curiosity. Some were able to resist, but all she had to do was shout for the others to restrain them and then she had her army. Only two had to be taken out completely, and her new soldiers disposed of the bodies.

She grinned, looking out over the twenty or so new recruits to her side. Sometimes, life didn’t have to be complicated. You want something, you go out and get it. Next though, would be the dragon himself. She refused to believe that would come so easy.

“Indoctrinate them,” she told Trish.

“You got it, boss.” Trish stepped forward, calling them together, quickly going over the new deal. They were free now, but the dragon had the influence to control them, an influence Shrina seemed to have as well, but she wouldn’t use it on them. They could make their own choice about whether to stay and fight, or go into hiding.

All stayed.

Turning her attention to the dragon, Shrina pushed out a message. Come and get me. Then she went to find a restroom. Unfortunately, being a demi-dragon didn’t get rid of that need. When she was done and stepped out, drying her hands, Trish walked over, glancing around at her new army, standing by for orders.

“What are we doing?” Trish asked.

Shrina grinned. “Waiting.”

With a nod, Trish turned back to the new recruits and started barking out orders. Shrina had nearly forgotten that the woman had been a soldier with New Origins, and was used to this stuff. More so than herself, really. It helped to have a general with combat knowledge at her side.

She paced, watching them move into defensive positions, some taking up patrols, others going for rest. One group was sent for food while others started training, the latter ensuring each vampire they brought into their fold was on the same basic level of fighting skills. They didn’t have much time, but since a good portion of them had been former New Origins soldiers like Trish and Pete, it wasn’t very difficult.

“The dragon isn’t here,” Trish pointed out as the two watched the other vampires as they stood at their lookouts. Some had geared up, taken various positions of defense, while others went below as reserves.
